The name came from the people who lived it

Work should feel worth remembering.

Dormer Days Consulting helps leaders build workplaces where the expectations are clear, the trust is real, and people can do work they’re proud of.

Why Dormer Days?

Years after Tracy Dormer moved on from leading an HR team, the people who had worked with her were still talking about the Dormer Days.

It was their shorthand for a time when work was fun, structured, and genuinely enjoyable — when people didn’t just do good work, they loved doing it.

Dormer Days Consulting exists to bring that feeling to other organizations, on purpose.

What guides the work

Not a slogan on the wall. A clear standard for what a workplace can become — and what thoughtful leadership can make possible.

Our mission
To make every workplace feel like the Dormer Days — where people are trusted, respected, and actually enjoy the work.
Our vision
A world where nobody dreads Monday.

What we can build together

Senior, practical support for the moments when people strategy matters most — from a new operation and a growing team to a difficult transition or a culture that needs attention.

Greenfield & start-up workforce builds

Workforce planning, high-volume hiring, and people foundations for organizations opening a new site, establishing an entity in a new country, or scaling under compressed timelines — with the approach grounded in local labour frameworks, workplace cultures, and operating norms.

Camp, FIFO & remote workforces

People strategy grounded in firsthand experience leading camp operations, distributed teams, rotations, and crews across jurisdictions.

Fractional HR leadership

Senior HR guidance without the full-time hire, including practical policies, handbooks, governance, and day-to-day leadership.

HR technology & AI

System selection, configuration, implementation, adoption, AI-enabled workflows, and people analytics that work in the real world.

Culture & engagement

A clear-eyed look at what’s helping, what’s getting in the way, and what will make the workplace stronger — on-site, remote, or camp-based.

Total rewards & compensation governance

Job architecture, pay equity, competency-based compensation, and board-ready materials for thoughtful decisions.

Workforce transitions

People integration through mergers and acquisitions, restructures, and workforce reductions — handled with honesty and humanity.

Leadership coaching

Practical support that helps managers lead with clarity, earn trust, and become the kind of boss people remember for the right reasons.

Recruitment services & targeted hiring

Practical support to define roles, find the right candidates, and make strong hires across IT, camp operations, mining, oil and gas, technology, the public sector, travel, professional services, small consulting engineering businesses, and remote workforces.

Meet Tracy Dormer

HR experience that didn’t happen behind a desk.

Tracy’s career spans greenfield mine sites, oil and gas, camp operations, technology scale-ups, professional services, small consulting engineering businesses, remote workforces, and the public sector. She has supported and led teams and operations across Canada, the U.S., Spain, Australia, and the Middle East.

That international work has meant leading across different workplace cultures, labour frameworks, and local norms — adapting the people approach to the context rather than applying one model everywhere. She has also supported the setup of new entities in other countries, translating business needs into practical local workforce foundations.

She has built teams quickly, led both HR and operations, implemented systems without an army of outside consultants, guided organizations through change, and helped leaders create structure without losing the human part.

That range is the point. The advice is grounded, the language is plain, and the work is shaped around what your organization actually needs.

People

People first, always. Policies serve humans, not the other way around.

Trust

Earned through honesty, consistency, and following through on what was promised.

Respect

Belongs to every role, every voice, and every person in the room.

Let’s make this a place people love working.

Have a people challenge, a new operation, or a workplace you know can be better? Bring the real problem. We’ll bring clarity, structure, and a practical way forward.

Make every day a Dormer Day.
